As the media frenzy dies down, former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban cleverly broke his silence on the controversial Luka Doncic trade.

The Dallas Mavericks have had a powerhouse in Luka Doncic, who at a staggering 6'6", made his name as a now five-time All Star and the 2023-24 NBA Scoring champion.

However, all his work for the Texas team came crashing down after it was announced he was part of a trade deal that would send him to the Pacific Division.

Doncic was traded with Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for nine-time All Star Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick.

This came as much of a shock to the 25-year-old point guard as his followers, leaving the Dallas fanbase a message of gratitude for supporting him and his time as a Maverick.

"Seven years ago, I came here as a teenager to pursue my dream of playing basketball at the highest level. I thought I'd spend my career here and I wanted so badly to bring you a championship. The love and support you all have given me is more than could have ever dreamed of. For a young kid coming from Slovenia, coming to the U.S. for the first time, you made North Texas feel like home. In good times and bad, from injuries to the NBA Finals, your support never changed. Thank you not only for sharing in my joy in our best moments, but also for lifting me up when I needed it most. To all the organizations I've worked with throughout the Dallas community, thank you for letting me contribute to your important work and join you in bringing light to those who need it. As I start the next part of my basketball journey, I am leaving a city that will always feel like a home away from home. Dallas is a special place, and Mavs fans are special fans. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart."

With Luka's heartfelt goodbye, fans' outrage, and Mavericks GM Nico Harrison's statement on hiring security, only one figure had yet to share their take: former team owner and billionaire Mark Cuban.

Mark Cuban has a long history with the Dallas Mavericks, having served as a majority owner from 2000 to 2023.

Though he has not been part of team operations since selling most of his share, he did not hold back with his clever take on the controversial Doncic trade.

During a presentation with fellow billionaire mogul Bill Gates, Cuban responded to the trade by asking the Microsoft visionary about reverting to a previous version of his co-host's operating system.

"If after you left Microsoft, you found out Steve Ballmer traded Windows 11, like the new, hot, operating system, for Windows 10, the Hall-of-Fame but older, what would you do?"

Unsurprisingly, Cuban implies that the trade was just as ridiculous as the majority of the NBA fanbase already believes it is.

With everyone against him, GM Nico Harrisson better hope his move pays off soon, otherwise, he will likely remain known for one of the most backwards trades in NBA history.
