The Calgary Flames have signed center Joakim Nordstrom to a one-year deal worth $700,000, general manager Brad Treliving announced.

Nordstrom, 28, has spent the past two seasons with the Boston Bruins. He appeared in 48 games in 2019-20, scoring four goals and adding three assists. He also appeared in 13 games during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, chipping in with two helpers. The Stockholm, Swedish native appears to be the Flames' replacement for Mark Jankowski, who recently signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

While Nordstrom is by no means a household name, he has plenty of NHL experience, having played in 400 career NHL games. Prior to joining the Bruins, he played for two seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes, and spent time with the Chicago Blackhawks previous to that. He played with the Blackhawks during their 2015 Stanley Cup win. While it wasn't a big role, he was able to play in three playoff games and get his name engraved on the biggest trophy in all of hockey.
