The Florida Panthers have plenty of firepower on their current roster, but according to Elliotte Friedman, they're ready to add more ahead of the trade deadline.

While the Detroit Red Wings find themselves in Stanley Cup Playoffs contention this season, they may remain sellers ahead of the 2025 trade deadline, at least according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.

In his latest report, Friedman notes that despite having a no-trade clause, Vladimir Tarasenko is a name that's out there on the market after a relatively poor start to the season.

When pushed further on this, this is what Friedman had to say about a potential reunion with the Florida Panthers after a successful run to the Stanley Cup a season ago.

"Don't be surprised if something happens here."

After being acquired from the Ottawa Senators in 2023/24, Tarasenko went on a heater, scoring 6 goals and 14 points in 19 regular season games before contributing 5 goals and 9 points in their eventual Stanley Cup run.

However, this season he's been less than ideal for Detroit, scoring just 7 goals and 22 points in 53 games, and with the team still in the hunt for a post-season spot, they may be looking to upgrade on the wing to make it happen.

Not only has the production not been there, but the underlying numbers don't look good either, so while the team would rather hang onto Tarasenko to make their push, if they get solid offers on him, don't be surprised to see a major move come soon.

At this point in time, there's still plenty of time for the Panthers to look around the league and potentially find another option out there, but if they want a relatively cheap, proven Stanley Cup Playoffs performer, they could do a lot worse than landing a two-time Stanley Cup Champion and one they're very familiar with.
