The Chicago Blackhawks are likely to be sellers ahead of the trade deadline, and now, Patrick Maroon may be a surprising option on the market.

This season hasn't gone the way the Chicago Blackhawks would have liked, and with the team lacking high end talent beyond Connor Bedard, their rebuild may be at least another 18 months away from concluding.

They've already moved Taylor Hall this season, and with several other veterans on the roster, it was expected that more moves would follow, with an intriguing report now revealing that Pat Maroon is drawing interest on the trade market.

That report comes from Jeff Marek with the Daily Faceoff, who notes the two teams in Florida, the Panthers and Lightning are distinct possibilities as trade partners for Chicago, with the veteran enforcer likely to be a cheap deadline addition for a contending team.

Given his lack of production, there's no doubt that he won't get Chicago back a significant asset, but will instead likely be a late round pick in the upcoming 2025 NHL Draft, but given their need for young talent, the more opportunities to land a player of the future, the better.

In 49 games this season, Maroon has tallied 3 goals and 13 points, and while he's never been a high producer of points, it's his presence and leadership that would make him a fit on the fourth line of any contending team.

With so many great players expected to be available, it's unlikely that Maroon will draw significant interest, but if the Blackhawks get any type of offer for the 36-year old forward, expect them to take it and be happy with a further asset as they look to help Connor Bedard lead them out of this rebuild.
