Per journalist David Pagnotta, the Buffalo Sabres are actively trying to acquire a top-six scorer. He believes this is something that could come to fruition sooner than later.

This is certainly a big need for the Sabres, as they struggled immensely to score goals this past season. While Jack Eichel led the team in goals with 36 and points with 78, the second highest scorer on the team was Sam Reinhart with just 22 goals and 50 points. While they thought they had a great scorer in Jeff Skinner after his 40-goal season in 2018-19, he regressed big time this past season with just 14 goals and 23 points in 59 games.

Although this is a move that would certainly make sense for the Sabres, it is confusing nonetheless. After rumours began circulating last week from TSN's Bob McKenzie that the team was taking calls on Eichel, it is tough to understand what the front office is trying to achieve. This has been a struggle for quite some time now, as the Sabres have yet to make the playoffs through Eichel's first five seasons.
