An internal investigation by the Los Angeles Kings as resulted in the firing of the actor behind the suit of the team's Mascot. Tim Smith, who has worn the "Bailey" outfit for a number of years, has been let go after a civil suit against him and the Kings' ownership was filed by a former employee.

Back in August, court documents came to light alleging Smith was "constantly cracking lewd jokes" with a former employee, making inappropriate sexual comments and would leer at her "breasts and buttocks" during her time with the team. Smith was suspended by the team and the investigation was launched.

According to the lawsuit, Smith was also in charge of hiring and firing for the Kings' "Ice Crew" besides his duties as a mascot. The woman, named "Jane Doe" in the court documents, claims to have made her feelings on inappropriate behaviour known to Smith, who would retaliate by firing her from the Ice Crew. The lawsuit also claims that an official with the team begged Doe to come back, promising to shield her from Smith, thereby acknowledging his inappropriate conduct. She returned, but states Smith continued with the behaviour, including an incident where she alleges Smith "put his crotch in her face in the mascot locker room while making lewd comments and thrusting his hips." Doe would then quit and never return.

The lawsuit, which is still ongoing, is asking for $1 million in damages. This isn't the first time Smith has had these types of allegations made against him in his role as Bailey. In 2017, he was sued for sexual misconduct stemming from a separate incident, in which he allegedly groped a man's buttocks in a Staples Center elevator. The team disputed that claim at the time, saying an internal investigation found the allegations to be without merit. The suit was reportedly later settled between the parties.
