The Ottawa Senators announced today that they have acquired defenceman Josh Brown from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a fourth-round pick in this year's draft.

Brown, 26, played in 56 games with the Panthers this season, his first as a full time NHLer, posting three goals and eight points. The six-foot-five defenceman has played in 93 career NHL games to this point, posting four goals and 10 points. He also appeared in his first two career NHL playoff games this year, but was unable to find the scoresheet.

Brown had been a part of the Panthers organization since being drafted in the 6th round (152 overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. The London, Ontario native spent his first three seasons of professional hockey in both the ECHL and AHL before receiving a call up to the Panthers midway through the 2018-19 season. He is a pending restricted free agent, so the Senators will need to work a deal out, though that shouldn't be too hard given that they have plenty of cap space and Brown won't command much money.
