New York Rangers prospect Lias Andersson has run into some trouble in the SHL, Sweden's top-tier hockey league. Andersson is currently playing for HV71, and is doing pretty well with four points (one goals, three assists) in four games. However, he'll be sitting out the next five games after delivering a dangerous hit to the head of Jonas Berglund on Thursday. You can see the hit below:

In addition to the suspension, Andersson has also been fined the equivalent of $9050.00 USD. The SHL takes head hits very seriously and has taken several steps over the last couple of seasons to get them out of the game. Berglund left the game immediately and did not return, according to the SHL's website. It notes the reasons for the hefty suspension and fine include the hit being late while Berglund is in a vulnerable positions, while also calling Andersson's actions "careless and disrespectful" with a "very high risk of injury."

Andersson started training camp in 2019-20 with the Rangers, but was sent to the minors before the first game of the season. On December 21st of 2019, it was reported by TSN's Darren Dreger that Andersson had formally asked the New York Rangers for a trade. On January 26th of 2020, it was announced that the Rangers had loaned Andersson to HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League, and he's been there since. He was the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NHL draft.
