Simon Gagne, who has a Stanley Cup ring and an Olympic gold medal, has been charged with impaired driving in his home province of Quebec. The 40-year-old was charged July 31st in Lac-Beauport, where he has reportedly lived for several years.

Gagne, who is now an assistant coach with the Peewee AAA Quebec Aces, is facing two charges: one of driving while his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit, and another of impaired driving. He is due to appear in court on Thursday.

Gagne's NHL career spanned 13 seasons, 10 with the Philadelphia Flyers, one with the Tampa Bay Lightning, two with the LA Kings and a brief period with the Boston Bruins. It was with the Kings that he won a Stanley Cup in 2012. He's also a two-time All Star (2001, 2007) and won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

In 822 games in the NHL, Gagne racked up 601 points (291 goals, 310 assists). TVA Sports reached out to Gagne for comment on their story but he did not return their calls.
