Weise parts ways with Montreal, hopes to be back in the NHL next season

Dale Weise's time with the Montreal Canadiens has reportedly come to an end.

According to a report from TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie, the veteran forward is set to hit the UFA market on October 9 after not re-signing with the Canadiens. The 32-year-old plans to remain in the NHL and his not currently looking for opportunities overseas.

Weise appeared in 23 games with the Canadiens this season, recording a goal and four assists and an additional 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists) in 27 games with Montreal's American Hockey League affiliate, the Laval Rocket.

He also appeared in five postseason games but failed to register a single point before the Habs were eliminated in six games at the Philadelphia Flyers' hands.

A 2008 fourth-round pick, Weise has also spent parts of his career with the New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Philadelphia Flyers, racking up 125 points (55 goals, 70 assists) in 513 career games.
