The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tampa Bay Lightning are facing off in an early playoff preview and it didn't take long for this game to turn nasty.

Near the end of the first period, Lightning forward Pat Maroon and Leafs defender Luke Schenn meat in the corner and don't waste any time getting after it.

Schenn landed most of the heavy shots In this tilt while Maroon seemed to be hanging on for dear life.

If there was any indication Luke Schenn needed to be in the game 1 lineup next week, this would be it. Having a big physical presence on the ice makes opponents think twice about taking liberties.

Moments after that, Mikhail Sergachev caught Tavares with his head down skating through centre ice, absolutely levelling the Leafs captain.

As a result the two sides come together once again in a scrum with the Leafs standing up for their captain.

If this is any indication of what the first round playoff series will hold, bring it on.
