Saturday's NHL waiver wire includes a huge forward who comes in at six-foot-six and well over 200 lbs from the Detroit Red Wings

Any team looking to add a big boost in the size department to their depth is in luck. Saturday's NHL waiver wire includes a 26-year-old who is huge.

Tim Gettinger, who's on his second one-year, two-way contract with the Detroit Red Wings, has been placed on waivers.

Gettinger has not yet played in the AHL or NHL this season as he's been dealing with an injury. It looks like he's ready to get back in the lineup.

Tim Gettinger, who is six-foot-six and 215 lbs, began his NHL career with the new York Rangers when he was drafted in the fifth round in 2016.

He's played just 16 games in the NHL since then, all of them with the Rangers. He spent all of last season with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL on a one-year, two-way deal with Detroit, which got him another one year extension this summer.

If Gettinger clears waivers, he'll head to Grand Rapids to play unless or until be needed by the Detroit Red Wings.

Kasperi Kapanen was claimed off waivers by the Pacific Division's Edmonton Oilers , this week in NHL waiver news. There was also some outage recently as the Buffalo Sabres picked up goaltender James Reimer off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.

The Detroit Red Wings made a surprise move earlier this week, putting goaltender Jack Campbell on waivers after he entered the NHL's Player Assistance Program before the 2024-25 season began.
