As we slowly approach the NHL's trade deadline on March 3rd, there are plenty of big name players that are expected to be available including Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, among others.

Unless there's a drastic change in contract talks, it appears Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat could be on the move before 3 p.m. ET on March 3rd.
According to Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK TV in Vancouver, the Canucks recently issued a contract offer to Horvat, but the 27-year-old turned it down. It's unclear what the term or AAV on that contract offer was, but Horvat is reportedly seeking more than $8 million per season, a significant jump when compared to the $5.5 million he's currently earning.
The London (Ontario) native is having a strong campaign thus far and is tied for fourth in the National Hockey League for goals with 20 in 28 games. Even if the Canucks trade him to a contending team at the deadline, such as the Colorado Avalanche who are in desperate need of help on forward amid injury issues, Horvat will likely hit the open mark on July 1st, rather that signing an extension with the team he was dealt to. While he'll lose that eighth-year by going to unrestricted free agency, he stands a better chance of getting the over $8 million per season he is reportedly asking for.
