Hockey Canada released the names of nine nominees for the organization's Board of Directors on Monday. The nominees include five women and four men, several BIPOC folks, and three who are fluently bilingual, representing a wide scope of people. Hardly a surprise, as Hockey Canada is in the midst of heavy scrutiny given its indiscretions which have come to light in the past 18 months.

The nominees are:
- The Hon. Hugh L. Fraser (Chair)
- Grant Borbridge
- Cassie Campbell-Pascall
- Julie Duranceau
- Dave Evans
- Marni Fullerton
- Jonathan F. Goldbloom
- Marian Jacko
- Andrea Poole
Hockey Canada's 13 voting members are set to vote on the nominees on Saturday December 17. If voted in, the board members will serve a one-year transitionary term, although some on the board may retain their positions beyond this year.
Given its position, Hockey Canada will seek to install a Board of Directors who will steer the organization away from the traditional behavior we've come to expect, but no radical changes are expected, at least not in the short term.
Some background on the nominees:
Hugh L. Fraser competed in the 1976 Olympics as a sprinter and jurist before beginning a long, successful legal career, specializing in human rights.
Grant Borbridge serves as General Counsel for the private equity firm, Emergo Group.
Cassie Campbell-Pascall captained Team Canada to two Olympic gold medals in 2002 and 2006. She now serves as TV analyst for Sportsnet and ESPN.
Julie Duranceau has served as a lawyer and member of the Quebec Bar since 2001. She runs a mediation/investigation firm out of Longueuil, QC.
Dave Evans is a real estate developer who previously served as the global head of innovation and technology for a large international advisory firm.
Marni Fullerton manages her very own integrated solutions firm, likely why Hockey Canada sought her, as she has 25 years of experience.
Jonathan F. Goldbloom serves on the Board of Directors for Via Rail and founded an international communications firm.
Marian Jacko is the assistant deputy attorney general for the Indigenous Justice Division of the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General.
Lastly, Andrea Poole is the founder and CEO of the accounting firm Numeris. She also provides financial services to an Indigenous-led multi-million-dollar First Nation women and children-focused charity.
