The Edmonton Oilers recently waived Raphael Lavoie, but now it appears he's on his way back to the organization.

This off-season has been a crucial one for the Edmonton Oilers, with the team adding several big name forwards in Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson, further securing this forward group as one of the best in the NHL. However, it's the young forwards in the organization that have fans just as excited, with Raphael Lavoie, Noah Philp and Sam O'Reilly all considered huge parts of the future.

However, the Oilers would lose Lavoie on waivers yesterday, as the Pacific Division rival Vegas Golden Knights claimed Lavoie and Calgary Flames forward Cole Schwindt on waivers in a shocking move. In an even more surprising move, they placed him back on waivers on Tuesday just ahead of the regular season opener, joining the likes of Chris Driedger as just four players placed on waivers.

Speculation began that the Oilers would look to target Lavoie and put in a claim for him, and since that point, it has been confirmed that the team will be looking to add him to the team once more while sending him to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.

Last season, Lavoie tallied 28 goals and 50 points in 66 games played at the AHL level, and while many expected him to crack the NHL roster this off-season, he fell just short before being placed on waivers. At 24-years of age, Lavoie's development hasn't been as quick as the team would have hoped, but he has shown massive improvements from his draft year in 2019, and is likely to get another shot at the NHL this season.

Given that most teams have already submitted their rosters, it's unlikely that Lavoie will be drawing lots of attention in the next 24 hours, and while we could see another claim, at this point in time, all signs point to a reunion after just one day between these two parties.
