According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Seattle Kraken have claimed former first-round pick, forward Eeli Tolvanen off waivers from the Nashville Predators.

It's not surprising to see that Tolvanen was claimed. He's still young, has a low salary and has the potential to be an impact middle-six forward in the National Hockey League.

What is more surprising is that 22 other teams decided not to place a claim on him, before the Seattle Kraken did. For those who don't know, the waiver order is determined by points percentage in the NHL's current standings from last to first.

Tolvanen, 23, has appeared in 13 games this season for the Predators, recording four points (two goals, two assists), four penalty minutes and is a minus-two.

The Vihti (Finland) native is in the second year of a three-year contract which is seeing him earn $1.45 million per season.

In other related news, Chris Johnston added that Dysin Mayo (Arizona) and Karson Kuhlman (Seattle) have been placed on the waiver wire for December 12th.

Mayo, 26, has played in 13 games this season for the Coyotes, but has failed to record any points, has six penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.

Kuhlman, 27, has put up three points (one goal, two assists), no penalty minutes and is a plus-three in 14 games for the Kraken.

If both or one of these players clear waivers on Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET, they'll be assigned to their respective American Hockey League clubs.
