Thomas Hickey, who signed and was subsequently released from a professional tryout with the New Jersey Devils, has accepted a role as an analyst for MSG Networks. Hickey played nine seasons in the New York Islanders organization, so it is fitting enough that he would narrate and analyze the club's games this season.

Hickey has not formally retired from playing, so this could be a temporary gig. That said, getting released from a PTO is typically a 'last straw' for many players, and the fact that he has a shot at media as a post-career option makes retirement a likely outcome.

But, you never know. Perhaps he still has some gas left in the tank and the itch to play. All the power to him.
