On Wednesday, the Boston Bruins announced that star forward Brad Marchand will be returning much ahead of schedule after having double hip surgery this offseason.
The infamous winger practiced on the top line with Patrice Bergeron and Jake DeBrusk, as well as the top powerplay unit on Wednesday. He also led the team stretch at the end of practice.
The Bruins have been off to a hot start going 6-1-0 in their first 7 games and host the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night. Bruins coach Jim Montgomery announced that he will be playing Thursday night, but for the time-being, Marchand will not be playing back-to-backs. Along with this, Elliotte Friedman explained Marchand will be in tonight, but out tomorrow versus Columbus. There is no time-table for how long this will go on for.
Per BOS coach Jim Montgomery, Marchand will not play back-to-backs for now. So he's in tonight vs DET, but not tomorrow vs CLB— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) October 27, 2022
Marchand underwent a hip arthroscopy and labral repair on both hips May 27, and the original timeline was supposed to be a six month recovery. This would have set him up to return at the tail end of November, but it's crazy how fast his recovery has been.
