The Colorado Avalanche forward Jonathan Drouin is currently dealing with an upper-body injury that'll force him to miss at least the next two games.

Jonathan Drouin signed up for a fresh start when joined his former junior teammate Nathan MacKinnon with the Colorado Avalanche a year ago. He signed a one-year contract and ended up scoring 56 points, including 19 goals, in 79 games. His contributions earned him another contract in Colorado.

However, Drouin is already facing a setback in this new season. The forward got injured in his first game of the year, against the Vegas Golden Knights, earlier this week.

In a recent press conference, head coach Jared Bednar shared an update on Drouin and his health. He stated that the player will miss at least the next two games, as he deals with an upper-body injury.

It's unclear when the 29-year-old veteran will return to the lineup. But he won't be in the lineup up Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Monday against the New York Islanders. His condition will be evaluated then, but it looks like he could come back next Wednesday or Friday when the Avs receive the Boston Bruins and the Anaheim Ducks at home.

Because of Gabe Landeskog and Artturi Lehkonen's injuries, the team is likely to turn to either Cal Ritchie or Ross Colton to take Drouin's spot on the first line while he recovers.

It's not an ideal situation for the Colorado Avalanche, a team with high expectations, but it's too early in the season to worry about all this. Also, with Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar leading the team, Colorado is in good hands to win despite this adversity.

In other news, the Avalanche claimed the goaltender Kahkonen on the waivers, adding further depth in the roster.
