The Senators are near the bottom of the NHL's standings and are getting ready to sell leading up to the trade deadline on Monday, March 21st.

Ottawa has plenty of pending unrestricted free agents that are expected to draw interest including Nick Paul, Chris Tierney, Tyler Ennis, Anton Forsberg among others.

During an appearance on TSN's 'That's Hockey', insider Pierre LeBrun mentioned that the Senators have become a popular team for trade talks over the last several days.

"Teams around the league, I'm told, over the last three or four days, have made Ottawa a popular target for phone calls," LeBrun said. "And I'm told that the Senators were a popular team to reach out to as far as checking out a team that is gonna be a seller."

General manager Pierre Dorion will look to add to the draft capital the team already has for 2022 and likely beyond. As it stands now, the Senators will have six picks within the first three rounds of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, one in the first, two in the second and three in the third.
