According to CapFriendly, the New York Islanders have placed depth forward Austin Czarnik on waivers this afternoon.

The 29-year-old signed with the Islanders prior to the 2020-21 season but has only managed to appear in fifteen games since January 2021. In eleven games this season, Czarnik has recorded five points (two goals, three assists) and is a plus-five.

Czarnik, a native of Detroit Michigan, has spent the majority of the 2021-22 season in the American Hockey League with the Bridgeport Islanders. In twenty games with Bridgeport, he's done quite well, putting up fifteen points (six goals, nine assists), along with six penalty minutes and is a minus-five.

He's set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but it will be interesting to see if any teams take a look at acquiring Czarnik, as he can be a valuable piece to a contending team's bottom six forward group.
