Kirill Kaprizov took his time coming over from Russia to make his debut in the NHL. We may know more about why now after he made an appearance at the Channel One Cup via a taped interview.

In it, Kaprizov talked about the importance of representing one's country at the Olympics, ending off by talking about how much he missed playing with Russians.

"Everyone understands that the Olympics is a great chance for any athlete. The most important thing is to get high from this time, for everyone to have fun," said Kaprizov. "When there's more positivity, then you get more out of hockey. And if you're spitting, you're not going to get anywhere. Of course, I miss the Russian mentality and Russian people, I feel more comfortable with Russians."

Kaprizov, who signed a monster deal after his first year in the NHL worth $9 million per season for the next five years, had a bit of a slow start this year. However, he's come on very strong lately and now has 11 goals and 33 points in 29 games in 2021-22. He played six seasons in the KHL before making the decision to come to North America.
