Late in the first period of Friday's game between Buffalo and Pittsburgh, Sabres goaltender Malcolm Subban made an unbelievable save, one that is worthy of save-of-the-year honours.

Penguins forward Evan Rodrigues took a shot from the right side of Buffalo's net. Subban then proceeds slide across and reaches behind with his glove to make the save, denying Pittsburgh's chance to extend the lead.

Following the game, Subban spoke with reporters and mentioned that he wasn't sure how he made the save, but admitted that it was pretty lucky.

"Honestly, I didn't even know it happened. I thought someone hit my glove or something," Subban said.

Subban added, "I went to the bench and (goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen) asked if I got that with my glove. I was like, 'Oh, I don't know, maybe it hit the post and hit my glove.' Then I saw the replay, and it was a pretty lucky save."

The 27-year-old has only appeared in two games for the Sabres since being dealt to them from Chicago a couple weeks ago. In those two games, Subban has a record of 0-1-1 with a 4.79 G.A.A., and an .877 save percentage.
