The NHL's Department of Player Safety has decided not to hand out any supplemental discipline to New York Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba for hit open ice hit on Chicago Blackhawks forward Jujhar Khaira.

Trouba rocked Khaira near the 6-minute mark of the second period, rendering him completely unconscious. Khaira had to be stretchered off the ice and taken by ambulance to Northwest Hospital in Chicago.

The Athletic's Arthur Staple confirmed on Wednesday that while there was some head contact, the hit was considered clean. Khaira's head was not the main point of contact, meaning the NHL did not deem the hit to be an illegal one.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety continues to be inconsistent in how it addresses supplemental discipline, which has made the DoPS the target of much criticism of late.

Khaira was released from hospital this morning. He is expected to make a full recovery, but the Blackhawks have not yet placed a potential timetable on his return.
