The Montreal Canadiens are currently in the process of hiring a new general manager, and it seems that a familiar face will be one of the main people helping to find a person to fill the position.
According to Eric Engels of Sportsnet, Bob Gainey will be part of the committee to help choose the new Habs' GM. Geoff Molson contacted the former captain, head coach, and general manager of the Canadiens, who accepted the position.
Jeff Gorton, the Canadiens' new vice president of hockey operations, told media on Saturday that he would set up a committee, and it seems that Gainey is a great addition.
Gainey turns 68 next week, and he has not had an NHL job since being appointed as an advisor for the St. Louis Blues in 2014.
The former Hab will be tasked with finding the next general manager of the Montreal Canadiens who will need to be able to communicate to fans in both French and English. Gainey is a former GM for the Canadiens, as well as the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars.
