On Sunday night, the Vancouver Canucks chose to fire both general manager Jim Benning and head coach Travis Green.

They have already named their new head coach in Bruce Boudreau, but have yet to announce the hiring of a new general manager. According to Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News, they may be looking at Marc Bergevin to fill that role. Bergevin of course was just recently fired himself by the Montreal Canadiens, a role he held since 2012.

This hiring, if it were to happen, would likely be met with mixed reviews. Bergevin had at times a rocky tenure during his time with the Canadiens, but was also able to put together a team just last season that advanced all the way to the Stanley Cup Final. He also proved during his time with the Habs that he isn't afraid to pull the trigger on big deals, something that may be needed with the Canucks.
