The Montreal Canadiens announced on Friday that they've re-signed restricted free agent forward Ryan Poehling to a two-year contract worth $1.5 million ($750,000 AAV). The contract will be two-way for the first season before transitioning to a one-way deal for the 2022-23 season.

Poehling, 22, was drafted by Montreal in the first round (25th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He's appeared in 28 games for the Canadiens, with 27 of those being in the 2019-20 season. The Lakeville, Minnesota native spent the entire 2020-21 season in the American Hockey League with the Laval Rocket. He went on to finish the season leading Laval in points (25) in 28 games.

With Ryan Poehling under contract, Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin has one RFA left to sign, which is Jesperi Kotkaniemi.

Montreal will open up their training camp at some point in mid-September before kicking off the pre-season in Toronto on September 25th.
