Negotiations Reportedly Underway With the NFL's Washington Commanders for a Return to Controversial Logo

There has been a lot of backlash from the fanbase after the Washington Redskins rebranded to the Commanders, but now a controversial logo may be back.

The Washington Commanders are struggling both on and off the field. The 34-26 Week 12 loss to the Dallas Cowboys dropped their season record to 7-5 after a 7-2 start.

That three-game skid has put the playoff hopes in question going into the critical Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans.

But the major development that has sparked the most discussion came off the field. Senator Steve Daines announced on Fox News that the Commanders and the NFL are looking into bringing back elements of the historic identity of the team, including the "Redskins" logo.

The logo, which was designed by Native American artist Walter "Blackie" Wetzel and inspired by Blackfoot chief John Two Guns White Calf, has deep cultural meaning.

Speculation about a possible return to the "Redskins" name has ramped up since Daines introduced a bill funding a new stadium contingent on the team's agreement to preserve and honor its historic imagery.

While Washington tries to get over defensive woes, the Week 13 game against Tennessee is an opportunity to turn their season around. But with their identity issues still lingering, it's hard for Washington to focus on the field.
