The Vancouver Canucks had a rough 2021 season, finishing last in the Scotia North Division following injuries to several players and a big COVID-19 outbreak near the end of the year. It was the fifth time in six seasons that the Canucks have missed the playoffs, and the team's captain, Bo Horvat, said "enough is enough".

"I've been on the team, this will be my eighth year coming up, which is crazy. And I want to be in the playoffs," Horvat told The Athletic's Thomas Drance. "I don't want to go through the motions in the regular season and be done in April," he added. "I want to be playing in the playoffs, it's the best time to play, it's when I find I take my game to the next level."

Vancouver's general manager Jim Benning has made quite a few additions so far this off-season. He's brought in Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Conor Garland, Tucker Poolman, and Jason Dickinson, but he's not done yet. Two key players on Benning's roster are still in need of contract, those players being Elias Pettersson, and Quinn Hughes.

Horvat went on to add, "And I think we have the team here to get there. We just have to prove it now. Enough is enough, we can talk all we want, at the end of the day we have to go out there and prove it on the ice."
