Gabriel Gagne, who was drafted 36th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2015, is facing some serious charges in his home province of Quebec. Gagne, who spent last season with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, is charged with sexual assault against two alleged victims for acts allegedly committed in 2016 in Montmagny and in Trois-Rivières. The Trois-Rivières assault allegedly occurred while he was a member of the Shawinigan junior hockey club.

Gagne was arrested on June 28th and again on August 3rd for the charges. One of the alleged victims was under the age of 16 at the time with the charges dating back to an incident that took place in March of 2016. Gagne appeared in court Tuesday by videoconference and was released on $5000 bail by promising not to have any contact with the alleged victim or any witnesses, and promising to stay in the province of Quebec.. He will appear in court again Wednesday on a similar charge.

Gagne, 24, did sign an entry-level contract with Ottawa, but it was played out and he is no longer a member of the organization. His contract with the IceHogs was AHL only. He also spent some time with the Toronto Marlies and Ontario Reign of the AHL, and the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL. In June of this year, he signed a one-year contract to play the 2021-22 season in Stjernen, Norway.
