Hoffman, 31, struggled to find a deal last year due to the pandemic and was forced to take a one-year, $4 million deal with the St. Louis Blues. The goal scoring forward was able to find more term this time around, and should be a huge addition to a Habs team that many have criticized for a lack of star talent in recent years.
Though Hoffman was criticized for his play at times last season with the Blues, he still managed an impressive 17 goals and 36 points in 52 games. He has scored north of 20 goals in six of his seven NHL seasons to this point and would have again last year had the season not been shortened. His best NHL season came with the Florida Panthers in 2018-19 where he scored 36 goals and 70 points in 82 games.
