"There is not many people I've met or played with I respect as much as flower. 100% HOF guy that I will miss," said Lehner. "But people that keep attacking my mental illness for something I don't control. One day when your eyes close you will be judged and then don't ask for forgiveness."
Lehner then decided to let everyone know exactly who he is and what he's gone though.
Lehner has been open with his mental health struggles for quite some time. He spent time in rehab for drug and alcohol problems directly related to his mental health during the 2018 offseason, something he has spoken about frequently. He did not say whether these are direct messages he's receiving or out in the open Tweets. Either way, it seems silly for anyone to do this. Lehner and Fleury have both said how much they loved playing with each other, enjoying the internal competition to be the starting goaltender for Vegas.
It is not yet known whether Fleury will actually report to Chicago. His agent has said he is taking some time to contemplate his future and will make an announcement in the coming days. Fleury has one year left on his current contract with a cap hit of $7 million. It's not necessarily surprising the Golden Knights decided to stick with Lehner, considering he is five years younger than Fleury and makes $2 million less per season. Fleury and Lehner won the William M. Jennings Trophy last season for the goaltending duo with the best goals against average in the league.
