Evgeni Malkin has won three Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins since being selected second overall in the 2004 NHL entry draft.
The young team led by him, Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, and Marc-Andre Fleury won in 2009, and then he went on to win again with the same core in 2016 and 2017.
A heartbreaking report came out today, that during tonight's Penguins game, Malkin's home was broken in to, and his most prized possessions, his cup rings, were stolen.
While these are only pieces of jewelry, and his family is safe, which is most important, losing something as symbolic as a Stanley Cup ring must be devastating, as they represent the peak point of his incredible future hall-of-fame career.
Malkin, along with Crosby and Letang are currently fighting to make the playoffs to go for one final Stanley Cup ring, hopefully to replenish his collection.
No other details are available at this time, but we here at Markerzone send our best to Evgeni Malkin and his family in this scary time.
