Pierrick Dube is a top prospect of the Washington Capitals, but now the 24-year old has been disciplined in a huge way after making contact with an official, despite AHL cameras seemingly not picking up the incident during the live stream of the game.

In all sports, officials take plenty of slack from fans, coaches and players, but in hockey at all levels, making any contact with an official on the ice will result in a major suspension.

That's now happened in 2024/25, with Washington Capitals prospect and Hershey Bears winger Pierrick Dube now handed a five-game suspension by the American Hockey League for a physical altercation with an official.

Video footage of the play proceeding the issue has also been released on social media, as many people have criticized the AHL for being too soft in this situation, noting that there was very little contact that many would have missed unless they were looking for it.

The proceeding play saw Dube getting slashed repeatedly in the hands, with the officials blatantly ignoring the contact, with the footage from the AHL stream seemingly missing the contact that resulted in the five-game suspension.

With 22 points in 34 games this season, Dube is clearly a very promising young name, as it appears to be only a matter of time until the 24-year old finds himself in the NHL full-time with the Capitals after making his debut and playing three games with the team a season ago.

This incident won't do him any favours however, as suspensions can often catch the attention of officials and increase scrutiny on a player moving forward, but for now, it appears as though this was a one-off incident involving the undrafted forward, as he continues to have an incredibly bright future in professional hockey in North America.
