The Tampa Bay Lightning are a very disciplined franchise, and now we are seeing that in action as Brayden Point is set to be scratched for disciplinary reasons.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have one of the most experienced groups in the entire NHL, and as a result, they're a very disciplined squad that has experienced plenty of success in the modern era.

Now however, they've had to announce a surprising discipline, with Brayden Point now set to miss the teams next game against their Atlantic Division rival Boston Bruins as a result of missing a team meeting.

This was first reported by TSN's Chris Johnston, and then, the team officially confirmed the news on social media, with many fans in the comments calling out the team for making the discipline public in this way.

While it may seem harsh, all teams have clear rules behind the scenes, and if a player breaks one of those rules, it makes perfect sense for them to discipline the player, whether it's captain Victor Hedman or a five-game rookie, as it shows that everyone in the team is truly equal.

This season, Point has been absolutely rolling for the Lightning, as he leads the team in goals with 25 along with 47 points in just 37 games played, helping them team into third place in the highly competitive Atlantic Division.

Ultimately, it appears as though this will be a simple one game punishment for Point and there will be no further discipline from the team, and given that the 28-year old has been in the league for over eight years now, it's safe to say that he'll take it on the chin and keep moving as this team looks to get back in the Stanley Cup Finals.
