If the Montreal Canadiens want to keep Jake Allen from being selected by the Seattle Kraken next week, it's going to cost quite a lot.

According to TSN insider Darren Dreger, Kraken general manager Ron Francis is reportedly looking for a top prospect and a second or third round pick from the Montreal Canadiens in order for them not to take Jake Allen. The price could also be a first round pick and a later round pick if the Habs feel like giving up a top prospect is too much.

Marc Bergevin is probably not happy at all to hear this, and the management staff of the Canadiens are going to have internal discussions on what to do with this situation, if they haven't already.

Jake Allen is a solid goaltender and would be a great addition to the Seattle Kraken, but if the Habs want to keep him, that is a very steep price to pay. It would be shocking if Marc Bergevin gave up those pieces to the Kraken just to keep Jake Allen for one more season. Allen is only under contract until after the 2021-22 season and then he'll become an unrestricted free agent. If Marc Bergevin really wants Jake Allen to be a part of this team going forward, he could always try to sign him next off-season if the Kraken don't sign him to an extension this summer.
