According to Pittsburgh Penguins reporter Rob Rossi, the team is expected to leave goaltender Tristan Jarry off of their protected list for the upcoming expansion draft, meaning he can be selected by the Seattle Kraken.

While nothing is official yet, Rossi expects the team to protect seven forwards in Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, Bryan Rust, Kasperi Kapanen, Teddy Blueger, and Chris Tanev, along with defenceman Kris Letang, Brian Dumoulin and Mark Friedman. In net, they are expected to protect Casey DeSmith, who backed up Jarry during the 2020-21 season.

This comes as a pretty big surprise, though it is worth noting Jarry's struggles as the number one last season, particularly in the playoffs. Reports are that they are looking to sign soon to be unrestricted free agent Petr Mrazek, who has spent the last three seasons with the Carolina Hurricanes.
