Jared McCann has been a star for the Seattle Kraken, but now, it appears the franchise leader in points may be on his way out ahead of the deadline.

This season hasn't gone the way that the Seattle Kraken would have hoped, and with their Stanley Cup Playoff dreams likely over, it may be time for them to start selling ahead of the March 7th deadline.

Now, it appears as though that's exactly what is about to happen, with reports now emerging that franchise points leader Jared McCann has been made available, with significant interest around the league in the 28-year old.

Originally drafted by Seattle in the expansion draft, McCann has tallied seasons of 29, 40 and 27 goals in three years with the Kraken, and while he has just 14 goals and 42 points in 57 games this season, he could be a significant upgrade for a contending team.

While he primarily plays on the wing, McCann has the ability to play down the middle when needed, and with teams like Edmonton, Florida, Los Angeles and Winnipeg among others all looking for upgrades in their middle-six, McCann is an intriguing name to keep an eye on.

McCann currently has two years left on his deal beyond 2024/25 with a $5 million salary cap hit, and with his production in recent years, he more than lives up to that value, and this combined with the rising cap make him an excellent target for many teams.

It's unclear at this point whether or not Seattle will be actively shopping him or simply engaging in teams that could be interested, but with the squad struggling to get out of mediocrity, if they can land a significant asset in return for McCann, it's simply the right move to make.
