Connor Bedard has the potential to be one of the NHL's top stars for a long time, but now, his biggest flaw has been laid bare by GM Kyle Davidson.

The Chicago Blackhawks won the lottery in 2023 when they landed Connor Bedard with the No. 1 overall pick in the NHL Draft, and thus far, he's lived up to all of the expectations.

Despite some calling him out for having a slow start in 2024/25, the 19-year old has tallied 16 goals and 49 points in 55 games with one of the worst rosters in the NHL, giving the franchise a cornerstone to build around for years to come.

However, he doesn't come without flaws, as Bedard needs to work on a 200ft game, with General Manager Kyle Davidson also recently pointing out what he believes to be Bedard's biggest weakness.

Again, you look at some of the top faceoff men in the league and a lot of them are veteran players. It's a skill that's learned especially over time and and experience. Do people come in and take faceoffs here and there? Yeah, but I don't think that's necessarily out of the norm for a lot of other teams with either younger players or players that are still working on their craft. It's something that I know he's put work into after practice and he will continue to do so. As he gains experience in the league, I think we'll see that improve.

Davidson, like many points out Connor's struggle from the faceoff circle, and while few improvements have come in his 18 months in the NHL, the GM notes that Bedard, unsurprisingly given his work ethic is trying incredibly hard to improve that phase of his game.

Only time will tell whether or not Bedard can get to the level of a Sidney Crosby or even a Connor McDavid, as he has the overall skillset to become one of the best players in the game, but with a poor Blackhawks roster around him and some weaknesses to work on, it's going to take time for him to get to that level.
