Montreal Canadiens sniper Patrik Laine took a shot at his head coach Martin St. Louis in his latest interview with reporters.

Patrik Laine has had a very tumultuous first season with the Canadiens so far.

Of course, he began the year on injured reserve after suffering a sprained knee during the preseason, but once he returned he lit the league on fire, quickly settling in to mid-season form.

However, he has since gone cold. In fact, the former 2nd overall pick does not have a point in his last eight games and is a -9 in that stretch.

He has been visibly frustrated on the ice in his recent games, drawing more attention to his scoring slump.

He now sits stuck on 12 goals and 18 points through 28 games.

Today, he had several interesting things to say to the media at the Four Nations Tournament.

First, he took a shot at Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis for dropping his ice time before quickly adding that he needs to be better to earn that ice time.

Over his last five games, Laine has averaged around 12 minutes per game, well short of his 15 minutes per night average on the season.

Laine specifically mentioned ice time again as he prepared for the Four Nations tournament with Team Finland.

He remains hopeful that increased ice time at the event, combined with playing alongside his best countrymen will give him the boost he needs to find his confidence, which he hopes he can take back with him to the Canadiens for the remainder of the season.

"To be able to get on the ice a little more definitely helps. It's been kinda limited the past couple of weeks. With the guys I'm playing here, I'm hopefully gonna see more ice time. That's gonna help obviously. It's hard to get going when you're not been able to perform.

I think it'll be a good turning point just to play good here & gain confidence & keep it going with the (Habs) for the rest of the year."

Whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen. Finland has their first match of the tournament against the United States on Thursday at 8PM EST.
