It is no secret that JT Miller and Elias Pettersson do not like each other.
Both players have repeatedly denied that there is anything wrong, but it is very obvious to all of us that that simply is not true.
If anything, things appear to be getting worse based on the latest reports from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
Now, one fan has discovered a moment on the bench from a recent game that could hint at the growing feud between Pettersson and Miller.
Pettersson and his teammate Andrei Kuzmenko were seen joking about him slamming his stick against the bench boards after he scored a goal.
As this fan theorizes, this could be a reference to another recent incident when Miller slammed his stick against the boards in frustration.
That incident clearly appeared to bother Kuzmenko, who could be seen muttering, "Oh my god," while Pettersson also appeared annoyed, as he gave Miller some side eye as he watched him attempt to destroy his stick.
At this point, it is still too early to say where this is going.
Elliotte Friedman reported in the past that the Canucks hoped that all of this would calm down on its own and they would be able to keep both players, but that seems like a pipe dream at this point.
Of course, Miller has a full no-trade clause which complicates things as he seems to be the one the team would like to move on from.
Unfortunately though, Pettersson has no such trade protection, so it very well could be the Swede that gets moved even if the rest of the team would prefer it to be the other way around.
Rumor has it that the Canucks have already tried to move Miller at least once but that deal fell through.
Who knows how many more deals have already been proposed and shot down.
Is Miller willing to waive his trade protection to get out of this situation? We will just have to wait and see.
