Jonathan Marchessault was with the Vegas Golden Knights for their entire tenure, and now he's opened up on facing them for the very first time since leaving.

The Vegas Golden Knights have been incredibly successful and consistent throughout their tenure, and one of the main reasons behind that has been Jonathan Marchessault, who was with the team for their first seven seasons.

That run included a Conn Smythe Trophy during the team's first and only Stanley Cup run, but in the off-season, he took some huge money in free agency to join the Nashville Predators alongside Brady Skjei and Steven Stamkos.

Now, the veteran forward will matchup with his former team for the first time on Tuesday, and while some free agency departures are met with hostility, it's expected to be all love between Marchessault and his former team.

He addressed that situation on Monday, and it appears the sentiment remains the same, as he is excited about battling those teammates he went to war alongside for so many years.

«I would say I'm more excited to see all my teammates that I played with for a lot of years, and that I won with,» Marchessault said. «That's the thing I'm excited to do. I can't wait to see the boys.»

Unsurprisingly, given that the team were there to support Marchessault throughout the biggest parts of his career, he appears incredibly grateful for the time he spent in Vegas and those there that made it so special.

«I'm super grateful for the seven years I was there. It was the ride of a lifetime and it was unbelievable.»

Unfortunately for his new team in Nashville, things haven't gone well in 2024/25, and with the team sitting in 14th place in the Western Conference, unless they can turn it around soon, Marchessault will be in danger of missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in a long time, making this matchup and every other one so crucial for the Predators moving forward.
