Maple Leafs fans lashed out at their team after the Vancouver Canucks made history in Toronto last night.

We often hear that Toronto is one of the toughest markets to play in across the entire National Hockey League and we had another proof that it's the case yesterday in a poor effort against the Canucks.

It seems every time that the team underperforms at home, fans lash out at them, which is exactly what happened yesterday after a poor effort on the ice.

Indeed, the Vancouver Canucks won 3-0 over the Leafs in what ended up being quite a boring game.

Even if the team is in the first rank of their division, they weren't good last night, giving the game to the Canucks to help them win their first game ever by shutout in Toronto.

Dennis Hildeby was between the pipes, but couldn't save his team from the humiliating loss, while Kevin Lankinen, on the other side of the ice, had a shutout, blocking all of the 20 shots fired at him.

When tickets cost hundreds, even thousands of dollars, fans expect a great show when they enter the Scotiabank Arena to watch a Leafs game.

But the Leafs didn't give a great effort at all, and fans showed their dissatisfaction and disappointment by booing them out of the ice.

Many fans who weren't at the game also lashed out at the Leafs on social media:

This was the Leafs' second straight loss, following a 6-3 defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes last Thursday.

At some point, yes, results are important, but if the team had lost after leaving all they had on the ice, they wouldn't have gotten booed by their fans.

The Leafs will have an opportunity to redeem themselves next Tuesday against the Dallas Stars. We can't wait to see if players will bounce back from their tough loss.
