A Vegas Golden Knights analyst hinted at a possible trade with an Atlantic Division team.

The Golden Knights have once again been having an amazing season, comfortably standing at the top of the Pacific Division with a 25-8-3 record. They have a six-point lead over the Los Angeles Kings who are second in the division.

The team has been firing on all cylinders, but they could still decide to add talent to their lineup before the trade deadline to make sure they can have the same success in the playoffs.

According to a new report, the team could complete a trade with the Montreal Canadiens for their forward Jake Evans.

This season, Evans has been playing the best hockey of his career. The Canadiens' 7th-round pick in 2014 has 23 points, including 10 goals, offering some valuable depth to the Habs.

He's a reliable player who excels on the penalty kill, and also brings a lot of physicality, with 47 hits so far this year. He's in the final season of his three-year, $1,700,000 AAV contract and will likely ask for a significant raise this summer.

A trade scenario suggested that the Golden Knights should target him and swap their prospect Matyas Sapovaliv, as well as a few draft picks to get Evans.

Sapovaliv, 20, was drafted 48th overall in 2022. The Czech forward tallies 13 points, including six goals, in 28 games with the Henderson Silver Knights in the AHL this season.

However, the Golden Knights won't be the only team interested in him. Any organizations looking to make a deep playoff run will likely make their best offer to the Habs.

With the way he's been playing this season, signing him to an extension would also make sense for the Habs.

Evans will be an interesting player to follow as we get closer to March 7th's trade deadline. Either he will sign an extension or bring a valuable return to the Canadiens on the trade market.
