The Winnipeg Jets have a solid prospect group coming through, but now they've shockingly placed a former second-round pick on waivers for contract termination.

The Winnipeg Jets have some fantastic prospects coming through the organization, with the present and the future of the organization being incredibly bright if things pan out.

Unfortunately, things don't always pan out, and that's now what we've seen with former second-round pick Daniel Torgersson, who has now been waived by the team in order to terminate his contract.

Torgersson was drafted in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Jets, with the team seeing his great size (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) and production and believing that would translate to North America and the professional ranks.

Unfortunately that just didn't happen, with the Swedish winger struggling to find any production at the AHL level, and after starting the 2024/25 campaign with no points and a -6 differential through 12 games, they've simply given up on the talented winger.

While the Jets may not have patience and confidence in him anymore, it's safe to say that there could be plenty of interest in him on waivers, as he may simply need time to develop and find the right fit in the AHL.

At 22-years of age, there's still plenty of time for him to turn things around, and if he can land with the right situation, there's absolutely no reason why a talented player with such good size can't find some type of role at the professional level that can help him achieve success.

We will now wait and see whether another team takes a shot on him or whether he'll need to reevaluate his options before continuing his career, but for now, the Jets have given up on another former top pick.
