The Montreal Canadiens got a star making performance from Jakub Dobes in his NHL debut, but that won't stop him from being fined by the NHL and Gary Bettman.

On Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens debut a talented young goaltender in Jakub Dobes, with the team officially moving on from Cayden Primeau in the process, placing him on waivers on Saturday.

Against the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, it was never going to be easy for Dobes on debut, but the 23-year old was absolutely dominant, stopping all 34 shots that he saw from the Florida Panthers to pick up the 4-0 shutout win for Montreal.

The vibes are incredibly high in Montreal with their young players playing well and the return of Patrik Laine, and now they may have a potential star on their hands in Dobes, who looked very comfortable on debut against an incredibly tough opponent.

Unfortunately, the Commissioner of the NHL still hasn't figured out how to let young players have fun and shine on their debut, as it appears as though Gary Bettman is set to fine Dobes for his pre-game skate that he did without a bucket.

Unsurprisingly though, the NHL still posted about the moment on social media, as this tradition continues to be one of the worst decisions consistently made by Bettman and the NHL, as it's a great moment for the player and the fans, with most debutants still doing it anyway.

According to most reports, the fines are taken care of by veteran players so that the debutant doesn't have to worry, but to give a player a $2,500 fine for taking their solo lap without a helmet continues to be a ridiculous decision that the league need to change.
