The Buffalo Sabres have struggled once again in 2024/25 as their playoff drought may continue, and according to a recent move, massive changes may be on the way.

After a respectable start to the 2024/25 season, the Buffalo Sabres have slowed down significantly in recent times, with the team going just 3-7-0 in their last 10 overall games.

That has led them to the all too familiar seventh place in the Atlantic Division, and given that the team had hopes of pushing for a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot this season, this is the last place that they hoped or expected to be.

Now, changes could be on the way, as Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast reported on a rumour that team owner Terry Pegula was headed to Montreal to meet with the team, a very unusual move that could potentially signal huge changes.

There's a rumor going around that Terry Pegula, the owner, may be going to Montreal to meet the team on Monday.

That means to me one of two things, either he's making changes or he's saying 'this is the group and this is who we are going with.

It's not often that an owner goes on the road either with the team or to meet the team so obviously it's a big day and a big meeting for the Sabres.

It's unclear exactly what changes if any could be on the way, but given that the team is in the midst of the NHL's longest playoff drought, it's safe to say that no one in the organization is safe after their recent struggles.

While Pegula's visit has yet to be confirmed, the team did hold a meeting on Monday ahead of their Tuesday clash with the Montreal Canadiens, and according to Eric Engels, the team have cancelled their scheduled practice for the day.

At this point, all signs are pointing towards huge changes coming in Buffalo, and whether that's a huge trade, a coaching change or even a GM change, it's safe to say that if things continue like this, one if not more of those things may need to happen.
