New York Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba Not on the Ice This Morning: Set to Go on Waivers
The New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba wasn't on the ice this morning, and reports indicate he could be placed on waivers today.
Since last summer, Jacob Trouba has been involved in plenty of trade rumors. He has an $8 million AAV contract, and his underwhelming performances are starting to catch up with him.
It seems the Rangers are ready to part ways with him, and new reports confirmed that it could happen today.
Renaud Lavoie, Chris Johnston, and many more wrote on X that Trouba wasn't on the ice this morning, as the Rangers are preparing to face Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
They also speculated that Trouba could find himself on the NHL waiver wire as soon as this afternoon, or be traded out of the team.
Finally, it was confirmed that the 22-year-old defenseman Victor Mancini was called up from the Hartford Wolfpack in the AHL to take his spot.

This season, Trouba, 30, scored only six points, all assists, in 24 games with the Rangers. He also has 22 penalty minutes and a -3 rating.
Over his career, the Winnipeg Jets' ninth overall pick in 2012 took part in 772 games for the Jets and the Rangers. He scored 73 goals and 242 assists, and tallied 626 PIMs in 12 regular seasons, adding 19 points and 76 penalty minutes in 73 playoff games.
Fans and analysts are eager to see what will happen to him. Players such as Trouba aren't often available on waivers and it wouldn't be surprising to see a team with cap space in the bottom of the rankings claiming him.
Whatever he does with Trouba, the Rangers' general manager Chris Drury will need to explain his decision publicly soon after announcing it.
