Former beloved NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has sadly revealed that he has prostate cancer, in what was a very somber news day in the basketball world.

Adrian Wojnarowski, also known as Woj, one of the NBA's most connected insiders for more than two decades, told 'Sports Illustrated's' Chris Mannix that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

He said he learned of the condition in February after a routine physical showed elevated PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels and a subsequent biopsy confirmed early-stage cancer.

Adrian Wojnarowski said his treatment is quarterly check-ups, monitoring on an ongoing basis, and lifestyle changes such as eating healthier and exercising. He mentioned that surgery is also one of the options.

Even though he knew of his diagnosis before leaving ESPN, Woj made it clear it had nothing to do with his reason for leaving.

He said he wanted to be done with the role, especially after his good friend and colleague Chris Mortensen died of throat cancer earlier in the year.

He added that he was disappointed more of his ESPN colleagues didn't travel to Arkansas to attend Mortensen's memorial.

At 55, Woj said that even a lucrative salary wasn't enough to keep him in the high-pressure job, especially with his family encouraging him to leave the news industry.

Now, Woj has shifted gears, taking on the role of General Manager for St. Bonaventure's men's basketball team, his alma mater. The team has started strong this season with an 8-1 record.

Wishing Woj the best in his recovery and new journey, and we look forward to getting some positive updates down the road.
