Alex Ovechkin was thought to be out for quite some time after a leg injury, but now he has shown an incredible recovery by taking to the ice just 17 days after breaking his leg.

A few weeks ago, the Washington Capitals were dealt a huge blow when captain Alex Ovechkin went down with a leg injury, ruling him out for upwards of two months as the Capitals looked to continue their red-hot start to the new season.

However, things have seemingly taken a positive turn, as a shocking video has now emerged of him back on the ice skating 17 days after breaking his leg to the surprise of fans.

There's a lot of time however between getting back onto the ice skating and being able to keep up at the NHL level and handle the contact and rigours of a game, but as a positive first step, this is huge for the Capitals and their fans.

In the time since Ovechkin has been out of action, the Capitals have posted a 4-2-1 record in seven games, and while this team was incredible with him on the ice, it's clear that they have the depth and the chemistry to continue competing even without him.

In 18 games though, Ovi posted an incredible 15 goals, putting him on pace to break Wayne Gretzky's record in 2024/25, and if he can return and get back to 100% this season, there's a chance that he can still chase down that record.

Ultimately though, this team needs Ovechkin on the ice to compete, and this latest update is an incredible one for the team, who have taken a huge leap forward this season, and with Ovechkin at 100%, this team should be able to continue both his individual and their team success.
